Early warning signs:
- Abnormal Discoloration
- Deformed Growth
- Dead Branches
- Infestations
Causes can include:
- Disease
- Lack of nutrients
- Too many nutrients
- Over watering
- Under watering
- Insect infestation
- Improper pruning/trimmig techniques
- Construction activities
Cause For Major Concern:
If you don’t pay attention to your trees, you can lose them. Worse case scenario sick or dying trees can cause property damage or become life endangering. (As a result of falling on something or someone.) Furthermore you could be held responsible for damage or personal injury caused by a tree on your property.
Warning signs of potential structural instability include the following:
Cracks in the trunk or major limbs
Hollow & decayed areas
The presence of
dead wood
Mushrooms growing at the base of the tree. (Possible sign of decay!)
Other factors that could be contribute to structural instability include:
Trees that have been subjected to construction activities such as: trenching, digging, removing or adding soil. (Can cause root death.)
Storm damage and flooding can cause root damage and structural instability as well.
